Summer Feeding

Program

Provides food to children when they do not have access to the free or reduced cost school meals.

Monthly Food Tasting Program

Provides easy, nutritious recipes and meals to demonstrate the ease and value of preparing healthy meals.

We follow The Emergency Food Assistance Program financial guidelines, (TEFAP a federal nutrition program).

Churches and volunteers working together to help our county neighbors.

We are making a difference… Alleghany County has been documented as one of the hardest hit with job loss in North Carolina. All client information obtained is kept confidential. Your friend, neighbor, or even a family member might have come to our door.

In June of 2004, The Solid Rock Food Closet continued the work of the Crisis Food Closet which began at the First Baptist Church of Sparta. During that year, a total of 2,915 clients were served. The total grew with each passing month. At this time we serve over 800 people per month. For calendar year 2019, we proved 194,000 meals.

Operating Hours:

Tues, Wed, & Thurs

10:00 am – 2:00 pm

We work closely with the Alleghany County Health Department, Alleghany County Schools, the Department of Social Services, and Alleghany County Cooperative Extension Services as well as others to bring their programs to our clients.

If you would like to contribute to any of the above or have an idea about some other programs, please contact the Director at 336-372-6560.
